2016 Miami Dolphins 7 Round Mock Draft (Dream Draft with Trades)

Sometimes the stars just align. Sometimes you just catch a break.

With my final mock edition of the 2016 NFL Draft those stars did align so maybe, just maybe, there is hope for us after all. I utilized a computer app to select for the other 31 teams.

With trade ups and downs, here is what we wound up with. If it could only be true!!

When our first pick rolled around at 13 Ezekiel Elliot, Vernon Hargreaves,  Eli Apple and William Jackson III were all sitting there.  The Lions offered their 1st Round at 16 and their 2nd Round at 15 for our pick. Since I would have been happy with any of those 4, I took the trade to add another 2nd round pick.

As luck would have it, all 4 were still available at 16 so when the Colts offered their 1st Round at 18 and 2nd Round at 17, I took that trade too.

Round 1 Pick 18: Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Ohio State - enough has been said about this dude already

With the 2 new 2nd round picks, I decided to get back into the first round after picks 23-25 went for corners and there was only one more good one left. It took until the Cardinals picked at 29 to find a trade partner for our 2nd round picks 15 (from Lions) and 17 (from Colts).

Round 1 Pick 29: William Jackson III, CB, Houston - tall athletic corner that can start immediately and will have to add a little bulk

Below is how the first round went through our pick at 29:

Round 1 Pick 1 (1) (L.A.) Chargers: Joey Bosa, DE/OLB, Ohio State
Round 1 Pick 2 (2) (PHI) Giants: Jalen Ramsey, FS/CB, Florida State
Round 1 Pick 3 (3) (S.D.) Rams: Jared Goff, QB, California
Round 1 Pick 4 (4) Cowboys: A'Shawn Robinson, DT/DE, Alabama
Round 1 Pick 5 (5) Jaguars: Myles Jack, OLB/ILB, UCLA
Round 1 Pick 6 (6) Ravens: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
Round 1 Pick 7 (7) (S.F.) Titans: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
Round 1 Pick 8 (8) (CLE) Saints: Darron Lee, OLB/ILB, Ohio State
Round 1 Pick 9 (9) Buccaneers: DeForest Buckner, DE/DT, Oregon
Round 1 Pick 10 (10) (NYG) Eagles: Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State
Round 1 Pick 11 (11) Bears: Sheldon Rankins, DT/DE, Louisville
Round 1 Pick 12 (12) (N.O.) Browns: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
Round 1 Pick 13 (13) (MIA) Lions: Shaq Lawson, DE/OLB, Clemson
Round 1 Pick 14 (14) (OAK) Falcons: Germain Ifedi, OT/OG, Texas A&M

Round 1 Pick 16 (16) (DET) Colts: Noah Spence, DE/OLB, Eastern Kentucky

Round 1 Pick 18 (18) (IND) Dolphins: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
Round 1 Pick 19 (19) Bills: Jarran Reed, DT/DE, Alabama
Round 1 Pick 20 (20) Jets: Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
Round 1 Pick 21 (21) Redskins: Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
Round 1 Pick 22 (22) Texans: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
Round 1 Pick 23 (23) Vikings: Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
Round 1 Pick 24 (24) Bengals: Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
Round 1 Pick 25 (25) Steelers: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State
Round 1 Pick 26 (26) (SEA) Rams: Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana
Round 1 Pick 27 (27) (G.B.) Raiders: Kenny Clark, DT, UCLA
Round 1 Pick 28 (28) Chiefs: Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor
Round 1 Pick 29 (29) (ARI) Dolphins: William Jackson III, CB, Houston

Round 2 Pick 11: Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State - #1 ranked OG and will start immediately

Round 3 Pick 10: Deion Jones, OLB, LSU - when a 6'1", 222 lbs. monster runs a 40 at his pro day at 4.38 seconds you grab this chiseled guy and let him play special teams and backup OLB until he proves himself worthy of starting..

Round 4 Pick 9: Bronson Kaufusi, DE, BYU - 6'6", 285 lbs and a 34 1/2" arm length, he has the size to back up Wake and work hard in the weight room while learning better technique to eventually take over

Round 5 Pick 8: Sean Davis, FS, Maryland - solid versatility as a backup comes to mind as this 6'1", 201 lbs. thumper can start at FS if needed and is tall and athletic enough to play corner in a pinch.

Round 6 Pick 11: Cody Core, WR, Ole Miss - 6'3", 205 lbs. workaholic, great attitude, can play special teams very well which may be how he can stick around

Round 7 Pick 6: Nick Kwiatkoski, ILB, West Virginia - 6'2", 243 lbs weight room junkie that will have to throw his body around and "take the pain, take the pain" to make the roster

Round 7 Pick 10: Caleb Benenoch, OT, UCLA - 6'5", 305 lbs. possible swingman who can back up at Guard and Tackle in a zone scheme

If all falls into place, we would wind up with 3 starters at RB, CB and OG plus good depth at OLB and DE.  Maybe even a couple Special Teamers to boot.

I hope you enjoyed following this series as much as I have putting it together for you. Lets see how the real deal falls starting on Thursday night at 8 PM.

Phins Up!!!
