So what are every ones thoughts on Adam Gase and his staff that he has hired so far? I honestly don't have an opinion one way or another but I think the Browns are going to be tremendously improved this year with Hue Jackson and still believe the Phins should have followed through with their interview with him...

Part of me wishes that they should've waited to interview Hue Jackson, but I also think that he was the number 1 candidate on the market and could have gone anywhere he wanted. So it definitely would've sucked if Miami had waited to interview him, Gase had been hired by someone else, and then Miami didn't get Jackson either. Then who would we have? I guess we could've gotten Lovie Smith. He's still unemployed at the moment. I can see why Ross didn't want to risk it though. Also, the fact that Jackson went to Cleveland makes me question his mental state. Who in their right mind would want to coach a team that's even more of a mess than the Dolphins. I guess Jackson just REALLY wanted to challenge himself.

As far as the concern with Gase's lack of experience as a HC, here's a question: would experience be any less of a concern with Jackson as our HC? Gase has been in the NFL since he was 23 and involved in coaching since he was an 18-year-old college freshman.

As far as his staff, my concern, just as is my concern with Gase himself, is experience.

Vance Joseph, DC - The Bengals defensive backfield has been pretty good the last couple seasons. If it's any indication of Joseph's ability, then I'm okay with this hire.

Clyde Christensen, OC - He's been a WR coach, QB coach, OC, and assistant HC in his career and has been with the Colts for 14 seasons. I think this is a pretty good hire and we are lucky to have someone with his experience. I'm actually surprised he took the job working under such a young HC, especially considering he won't be calling the plays. I think he will bring a lot of experience to an otherwise inexperienced staff. This was a good move in my opinion.

I can't say much about the other hires so far as I don't know enough about them, but I can say that it should be a surprise to no one that the OC and DC did not hold those positions last season. Why would anyone make a lateral move to work under a 37-year-old HC?

We got a HC without prior HC experience, it's only natural that we would get coordinators with similar experience. Again, I'm surprised we even got an OC with any prior OC experience.

As I've been saying all along, I'll continue to curb my optimism, but I do think that Gase has done pretty well building a coaching staff so far. Time will tell...

Go, Tannenbaum! :p

Tough to judge position coaches because as fans we really know very little about them. Im not thrilled about Gase, Joseph or Christensen but Ill give them a chance. I dont really have a choice! At least its not Joe Philbin and thats a good start.
