Dolphins Hire Doogie Howser As New Head Coach

Yes, the Miami Dolphins have turned to a young and bright mind in the name of Adam Gase, the former OC of the Bears, to be our new and hopefully improved Head Coach.

You can read all about his history in 400 other articles out there right now.

Before I start on our new regime, let me say that I thought Dan Campbell did a decent job and even though the players seem to have rallied around him this past week, they didn't rally enough when it mattered most. Unfortunately, an undisciplined 5-7 team wasn't going to make the grade so Campbell was grounded.

On to the future, in the first few pictures and videos I saw of Gase, he bore a trimmed beard which made him look very mature. I wasn't aware he was only 37 years old.

But at his introductory press conference, he sat cleaned shaven, looking like he just got off the train from Sticksville, Wyoming, so I had to wonder if he flashed a fake ID to get into the building.

Stephen Ross and Mike Tannenbaum have given this kid the keys to the franchise. Much like any other parents, I wonder if they also had to give him 10 bucks for gas.  I am sure he got enough cash to pay for Med School and beyond.

They certainly have given him free reign over their kingdom. The spoiled brat will have total control over all his toys as he gets to decide who gets onto and stays on the 53 Man Roster.

I personally like the idea of coaches having control over their toys. Or as Bill Parcells once said "If they want you to cook the meal, they should at least let you shop for the groceries."

Plus, players know that dude over there can certainly end their football life so I assume they will play harder for the dude.

Chris Grier, the newly hired GM, gets to continue to scout the talent, as he did prior to his new appointment, only now he gets a bigger allowance.

I guess Gase will get to either kick and scream until he gets what he wants or keep throwing his unwanted toys into the trash until Daddy Grier gets him what he really wants.

Gase also has decided that he will in fact call his own plays.  That's right, nobody tells him what to do.  Gase said it is fun calling the plays.

I have no issue with this. Could be must see TV.

Gase made no predictions, made no promises and as such gets plenty of leeway from his parents. 5 years worth, well maybe 3 if there's a divorce.

The one benefit to all this is that if this turns into another train wreck, we the lucky fans, will only have to point one finger in the one direction of the one kid standing on the one sideline with a stupid smirk on his face telling us "You asked for it".

I truly hope it works out and for a lengthy time. I hope he becomes our next Don Shula. I hope we do win at least a couple more Super Bowls.

And hopefully in my lifetime.

Phins Up!!

Everybody liked Dan Campbell, but he is just a couple of years as a coordinator from being a head coach. Needs a little more seasoning. He made a couple big mistakes and his team was very undisciplined. Lots of penalties. I wish they would have gone with Couphlin or Shanahan. Those guys at least have experience and superbowls. They deserve respect. They have earned it. This kid has done nothing!!!

Lets hope he is potty trained.

This sounds like groundhog day. Same crap over and over and over and over again. Another coordinator with short term success and no head coaching experience. My gut feel is that Gase will be more like Cam Cameron. The Phins need a coach who can put together a great staff. Wow...and there where super bowl coaches available who can put together real coaching staffs. Tom Coughlin, Lovie Smith, even that tyrant Mike Shanahan would've been a better choice than Gase. Heck, I would rather have kept Dan Campbell and armed him with legitimate coordinators than hiring Gase. Geez!

I wouldn't put much stock in the "53 Man Roster" statement. All that means is that he has the power to cut a player, which any coach should have. It doesn't mean he is the GM and does not indicate what power he will have in going after free agents or drafting players.

I really don't think this means as much as we think, and wonder why the team even feels the need to trump this up. With the jokers running this team, I would expect big trouble if Gase wanted to cut a high round pick, even if the guy was a clear bust.

This team is a joke. It will continue to be until it's not.

Carl, you are being such an ass about this before you even really know anything about the person they hired. You sound like a spoiled child.

Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah David.

I am rubber, you are glue. What bounces off me sticks to you.

I can't understand for the life of me why we all have to be so NEGATIVE about everything The Dolphins do. We could have hired Vince Lombardy in his prime and would complain about something, why MUST all Dolphin writers be so HATEFUL, Every article that I've read about Coach Gase whether new or old have been very positive accolades about him. All the prominent teams that are winning organizations have let the HC grow with the team and have rolled the dice with him at the beginning. So lets give this guy a chance b4 were so negative about him. It can't get any WORSE!!! GOOD LUCK COACH GASE Go DOLPHINS

Phins and Ross are a putrid JOKE !
This guy is too young and green to do squat over here !
First time he yells at Suh, or Pouncey, or any other vet, that will be the last time. They will tell him to F- OFF and that will be that. What has he done ? Improve Manning ?? Yeah right, Manning improves himself. Heck, taking Manning as coach would have been better. Fixing CUTLER ? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat ? That makes you HC material ? Nope, it makes you a psychologist. Bears still sucked.
Here we go round the "un-merry go round" again. So hard to be a Phin Fan after all this BS. Super Bowl coaches out there too...Shanahan, Coughlin, experienced guys like Hue Jackson, Lovie Smith even. First time coaches don't work for some reason here. Heck, Dan Campbell has 12 games more exp than this cat. Who is he bringing anyway for his staff ? More newbies...Vance Joseph for the D...whooooo ?? Ross is clueless. Sell the team Mr. Ross....please. Take the ROI on your money and run. You are 70 you fool. You will never see a playoff before you even see Jesus.

Does anyone else wonder why we don't steal coaches from the teams that are always in the playoffs? Like maybe the Patsies, Broncos, Seahawks, Chiefs?????? These teams know something. That's why they're always in the playoffs or Superbowls. Then again, how about stealing their players from their practice squads. They must have great scouts. Instead we get someone from the lousy Bears??? The assistants are coming from loser teams?? Frustrated!

Am I the only one who thinks Adam Gase looks like Vladimir Putin?

As we all know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Once again, the dolphins have hired an offensive coordinator, with no head coaching experience, to be our head coach. They also have reportedly hired a defensive backs coach (Vance Joseph), again, to be our defensive coordinator. If that's not stupid enough, he's even from the same team we got the last guy from! Is it possible to fire an owner?????
