Coaching changes

According to the reports, Joe Philbin met with Mr Ross after the game. Philbin called it productive, and hinted his job was safe for now.

Ross left without comment. Of course. He isn't going to fire him until late in the season. And he's not going to comment on "speculation" until then.

And then Philbin went on to say he was not going to make any changes to his staff.

So we are we are. No changes coming. And a pitiful performance from the fins. They are, for all intents, uncoached at this point.

And whatever I - or any of you - think about tannehill is moot.

Look through the annals of coaching changes. It is very, very rare that a new coach comes in and keeps the same QB. In fact Manning at the colts is the only example in recent times. Dungy came in and made no change there.

But in almost every other case, the coach attaches himself to his guy, and discards whoever was there.

So like him or not, tannehill is (thankfully!) gone too.

And I'd like to thank you mr Ross. You've owned the team since 2009. 7 football seasons, including this one. And twice you've held onto a coach a year too long, and basically wasted that season. And the other 5 were all sub par - with not a single winning record.

Here's to hoping (please!) you do better on the next go-round.

I guarantee you that Tannehill will be kept and thought highly of also.

I certainly hope not...convert him to wide receiver...

Tannehill isn't the issue. Have you seen the OLine? Its about as competent as this blog. You want Chad Henne? How does Luck look behind his shitty line? idiot

avatar

Agreed. Tannehill with a line is a top 10 QB in nfl

I had a feeling no changes were going to made, and it's in my mind ridiculous. An extension of last year there is no urgency at all, it's painful to watch, And everyone who says Tannehill isn't an issue, are you really watching these games ? the O line is bad yes, but come on, even when the guy has time he isn't good. How many deep balls, touch passes has he thrown that over uncatachable ? they must have ran that touch pass 5 times today. Tannehill is not the IT factor for Miami, from what i see now he's mediocre at best. All he can do is throw a zip ball 15 yards to the sideline or middle of the field. Stop protecting with the O line is horrible excuse, Roll out, Make plays, bottom line is he is scared to make mistakes. He's babied by Philbin and probably ruined because of him. I'd LOVE to see what another coach would do with Tannehill, and if he ever left here he'd probably become a star player, but right now under this regime he looks worse and worse each week.

Tannehill supporters. READ THIS. Passing game - F he's NOT always under constant pressure and when he is needed to make a big play he NEVER comes through,

they need to be motivated to play a game, and team should look at Green Bay on the approach on free agents, pay your guys first, then your draft picks will produce. Landry is a motivated player that will deserve a good pay day.

Ross is a COMPLETE IDIOT. Good thing he is rich and has money to waste on this team because that's exactly what he's doing.

avatar

People talk about IT. Well sorry to burst you're bubble but Marino, Brady, Rodgers etc aren't there for the pickings and with the league being QB hungry, you have to settle for a top 10 in Tannehill. He is the best we have had since Marino. Want to go another 15 until we find someone with IT? LOL. The line sucks period and he stands in there and takes the hits. The deep ball crap, who cares. Brady dink and dunks all day long and as you said its the coaching. Give him a line and a defense that can play and it all will work itself out. Starts at coaching. I have been a fan a long time, I know shitty QBs.. I rather have Ryan than Lucas, Henne and all the other scrubs that played in Miami.

Finally, someone calls out the Thill apologists - the guy will be a journeyman by next year if not the following.

Ok, here is the problem. Fire Philban. So who coaches till the end of the season? Lazer? Coyle? We have nothing to take over the team. We are stuck and screwed. Till next year.

avatar

Believe what u want but tannehill just signed an extension worth a lot of money, if u think they're gonna pay him all that money to walk ur insane!!!! At least 2 more seasons like it or not

avatar

You people realize that with the contract we gave Tannehill in the off season,he's going nowhere. The cap hit alone would be unbelievable

Our o-line is quite possibly the worst in the NFL. I don't think there's anything wrong with Tannehill, yes he has a few bad or questionable throws here or there, but tell me what qb doesn't. And people say even when he's not pressured he makes some bad throws....well think about this...his line sucks, he knows that. He's been sacked more then any other qb in the past 3 years and already off to another rough year taking way to many hits! Sure he may not be pressured on a few plays...but you can't tell me that with the inconsistent play of his line that he doesn't worry about getting blind sided. That will sit in the back of any qbs head and make him nervous as to what might happen. Fire Philbin and Coyle cause they have done nothing to continue to keep their jobs. I still think Lazor can do us a lot of good once we get an o-line and then watch how much better Tannehill is and how much more effective and efficient he can be!

These guys think elite qbs grow on trees, give him an o line and fix the defense first

avatar

Agreed that Tannehill is not the problem. When given some time to pass, he can do great things. Most of the time today, he was throwing off his back foot trying to not take the sack. Jets blitzed insatiably.

avatar

No doubt watch Andrew luck this year and manning at times this year and tell me if an o line can make u look worse

avatar

An online can certainly make you look worse. But great qbs can overcome those issues.

And shame on the coach/owner/gm for going out and getting suh as though that was going to fix the oline problems.

avatar

Tannehill is on the rise but I wouldn't call him great, and asking him to do it with no running game or pass protection isn't fair, I liked what I saw from him last year, not quite ready to say he's regressed but I guess it's easy to just blame ur qb, wonder if the Ravens or saints or colts blame their qb this much

avatar

Owner...joke- coaches...joke- players...joke - front office...joke...what does all this equal.? The worst team in the NFL...PERIOD...!

avatar

guys tann not the problems but he is not top 10 qb and never going to be
he is not natural qb for our problem well just keep them all and fire them all at the end of the year and yes we get #1 draft lol

avatar

Tannehill, tough guy, great arm, but no time to use it. Bottom fucking line.

Something has to be done now. This team is bad. Everybody looks like they don't have a clue. Embarrassing.
