Some Thoughts On The Current State Of The Miami Dolphins

So I have been thinking about the loss to Jacksonville and I cannot for the life of me come up with a reason we should have lost. Maybe the fan base, myself included would be taking it a lot better if the Dolphins would have played better in Washington but unfortunately that didn't happen.

I have also been thinking about some of the decisions that have been made so far this year and I cannot wrap my head around one thing in particular...

Why the hell is Philbin and Coyle playing BOTH Kelvin Shepperd and Zach Vigil at middle linebacker during games? That question was posed to Philbin from the media. His answer? "We would love to have one of those guys run away with the starting job but it's more about building depth." What the hell????

Why not give McLeod Bethel-Thompson a few series at QB and let Tony Lippett sub in for Brent Grimes for a few plays if you wanna build depth??! That is idiocy at its best! There is no way that the defense will start to gel if the leader of the defense is constantly getting changed out. That is stupid.

Why should the defense need to gel anyways guys? This is the 4th damn year that Coyle has run the show and we are regressing. It is simply pathetic. Which brings me to my next point...

If Philbin doesn't win the East or win 11 games this year, he has to go. And as far as I'm concerned, he can take Coyle with him. I for one will not accept a 10 win season with a wildcard berth. This is what I fear will happen...

Miami wins 9-10 games this year and squeaks in the playoffs. Everyone is so elated, especially Mr. Ross, then we are stuck with Philbin, and most likely Coyle for at least one more year. And as a side note, I don't see Miami winning a playoff game even if they somehow get in the playoffs.

I have seen enough from Philbin and Coyle. Lazor is the only coach that has his unit progressing in my eyes, even though he still has crap for an O-Line, he is doing a decent job. Coyle's personnel is constantly improving every year but the unit doesn't? I don't get how that works.

With all that being said, to recap, 11-5 record OR win the East or Philbin should go. I have seen enough. What are your thoughts?

At least last year we didn't lose to Jacksonville...! This coaching staff is a joke-- fire them all.!! It's just aggravating that we can't fire the owner....this ship feels like the Titanic-- its taking on water already and we haven't even hit an Iceberg yet.!!!

Playoffs.... playoffs don't just don't. Phil bingo is the problem end of story. Ross is to dumb to work it out. Players like Suh regressing.... its a feckin sin.... I don't know what to say other than Joe Philbin must go !!!

Agree, even before the preseason, I thought that the Fins made really good rooster moves, buuuuuuut...they keep the boldy grumpy head coach, and that, as you said, it was a huge mistake!

A skunk doesn't mind its own smell. Philbin/Coyle have to go.

Do you really think that this team can win 9 games???? We just struggled against the two most beatable teams we'll face all year!!!! Within two weeks the coaches will lose the locker room and we'll be lucky to win 6 games

At least now we have a good roster that should be attractive to a good coach right?!

As long as we have a milquetoast head coach we will have a milquetoast team and will continue to play down to the level of poor teams.

Fire Philbin and Coyle now and give Lazor an audition as head coach. Pull the bandaid off.

The lack of a run game puts way too much pressure on this team. This regime has put no emphasis on a running game and that includes Lazor. Lazor has not found us a run play that will get 4 yards a carry so gets no pass from me and I'm sick of hearing about how Lazor is OK. You're not a professional offense if you can't run the ball and I'm not buying a ticket to witness the incompetence!

But, Jim Schwartz is still available. The same guy who coached Suh, and coached up Haynesworth to a decent level before he went mental in Washington. Bring him in now as a consultant. Then, bye week, if we get similar results: fire Coyle, bring in Schwartz. If I were Ross (Philbin won't do it) I would have made that call yesterday.

@Tommy Harrison:

I think calling Schwartz it a FANTASTIC idea. We have veterans on the D that can pick up a new defense real quick. Fire Coyle and call Schwartz please Mr. Ross!

I tend to agree. I'm usually the first to try and be "reasonable" and say "hey guys we went 8-8 last year, isn't 11-5 reaching a bit?" But no. Not anymore.

Our whole coaching staff is trash. Coyle has no business in the NFL. Philbin is too egotistical for a zombie. Lazor is over-rated. His offense is the same as the "Wildcat" back in 2008. It works temporarily until defenses catch on. Our o-line is not built to support a runner like Miller. We need a bulldozer. Too bad Moreno was made of glass, because someone who can run like him would be perfect.

I want us to win and make the playoffs. I'll never root for us to lose. But I agree Lawrence. I'll add one condition onto yours though:

11-5 or
Win the east or
AFC Championship appearance or
Fire the whole coaching staff. From Philbin to the damn line coaches. Anyone who might have retained any of the previous HC's ideals has to go.
