Defend Tnnaehill ?

I want to take a minute and ask this question, because lately I see commentators and analysts defending Ryan Tannehill.  My view is and this has been my view for sometime, he hasn't gotten better.  He's still the same old conservative quarterback who is afraid to take a game in his hands.  He is defended because of his numbers, yes he puts good stats up because he plays safe.  He throws the ball 10-20 yards and completes a lot of those passes which equates to good numbers.  From what I saw yesterday furthers my opinion on my him.  Passes thrown behind receivers, stands in the pocket too long, leads receivers out to dry, and almost every long ball he attempts is overthrown or underthrown.  I've yet to see him throw a pretty long ball.  This may have to do with coaching and the right person can fix him but as far as I'm concerned he's not improving.

I agree wholeheartedly...as I have also said repeatedly..

So when Brady dinks and dunks he's an mvp but when tannehill does it with no pass protection whatsoever he's just padding stats? In the jags game he limped on and off the field carrying the team on his back, i gotta expect u see far bigger problems on our roster than him

I have said it from the beginning with the mouth breather. He is mentally slow and is behind in every aspect of the game. You can't truly change mechanics, and his were always awful.

I also said it from the beginning with our owner.

I have no issue with dinking and dunking and I'm not saying he is doing so to pay stats at all, if he dink and dunked like Brady efficiently there wouldn't be an issue, Brady does it then compliments it with a beautiful long ball completion. Tannehill can't do that, and I agree with he is slow and his mechanics are awful and have been awful. If your protection is bad get rid of the ball quicker! He's tough yes his decision making is horrible and I feel like he's been babied by his coaching staff and they've ruined him instead of letting him loose. I mean guys you can't be an NFL qb if you can't throw vertical. Every dee throw he throws is down the sideline and out of bounds which gives no receiver a chance to make a play. This is year 3 with him and having the same issues, when do you say something has to change ? after a fourth losing season ? I want a new combing staff and maybe they fix him!

#1 comment on an offensive replay by announcer is "the ball thrown behind the receiver". Most often the ball is thrown behind the receiver because T-hill is slow on his read and thus is slow to react. He NEVER throws a guy open or leads a receiver properly. Sometimes I wonder if he has life insurance policies on his receiving core. The only thing we run are slants because that is about all this kid can complete. He can throw an out and he can makes some nice throws down the seam but he has absolutely no touch on anything else.

Blind fans. The king has no clothes on morons.

He's not elite I know, but he might also be the 8th or 9th biggest problem on our team and by far not the reason we're 1-2

Before this game, Tyrod Taylor led the league in yards per attempt when the ball is thrown downfield. Over 29 yards per ATTEMPT! You see those beautiful balls thrown by a backup?

The field general BY FAR has the most direct impact on a team's success in today's NFL.

Tannehill may be part of the problem, but he certainly isn't all of it.

avatar

If our defense was as advertised in preseason and our o line could do anything we wouldn't be here nitpicking our qb

avatar

That speaks way more to our defense than anything, Taylor isn't half as good as he looked against us, New England exposed him as will the jets and any other decent defense will, read what pff graded him and why, McCain giving 10 yd cushions made his job EASY!!!!

Football is blocking and tackling, do that you can with Trent dilfer, don't you can be Drew Brees and have a losing record in an awful division

avatar

What?

Tannehill is currently No. 5 in yards, No. 7 in TDs and believe it or not is one of the top deep ball passers in the NFL so far - No. 4 in completion percentage, 2 TDs and 0 INTs (from PFF). Before he started running for his life behind a paper tissue OL which gave up an insane 18 pressures to BUF, Tannehill had set a team record for the length of time without an interception and had a 100+ QBR.

Shhhh, most of these guys think he sucks lol

Pearls before swine...

Correction; this is year FOUR! And as I predicted in year one; Tannehill is not the answer and I will say again: "we will NEVER make the playoffs as long as Tannehill is the starting QB!

You're right it's all him, nothing at all to do with the rest of the team, guess Matt Ryan missing the playoffs often and Brees missing out often means they suck too, team sport!!!!! I kinda hope we do get a new qb to give u so called fans someone new to complain about

avatar

I'm sure u guys think if Peyton Manning was our qb we would've won yesterday by 30 points

It's ok people. Tannehill & Philbin will be gone at or before the end of this season. It is a shame that Tannehill gets to muck up another season; making it 4 seasons down the drain. The coaching staff appears to be too stupid to try another QB just to see if we are right about Tannehill.

I'm going to continue to reserve negative judgment on our QB until I see him play one...I repeat...ONE GAME....where he is not running for his life. He's going to get benched this year, but it won't be because of performance. It'll be because he WILL BE ON IR within the next 3 weeks if they don't start block a few defenders. I watched the Bills entire d-line casually walk right through our o-line multiple times last night. Starting to think we have holograms, and not actual humans, on our o-line. Like that Tupac hologram a few years ago...
