An amusing moment from the game

During the dolphins bungled drive at the end of the half, there was the play where there was a short gain and a penalty.

There was a decision to make about the down and distance and whether there should be a timeout used or a 10 second runoff.

I don't recall which was right but it seemed obvious at the time.

The announcers made a comment that it was a "no brainier" and the cut to philbin on the sidelines who was conferring with the ref about his options.

And the funny part was just how perplexed he looked while standing there.

He seemed to be genuinely confused and not sure what to do.

Flash forward to his comments today about Suh not going rogue or whatever. He was doing what he was expected to do.

Again, that deer in the headlights moment comes into focus.

Head coaching puts more on his plate than he can digest. The players know it and we know it.

OK. Let's play this out? So Philbin goes, then who? We have some really good players and we are close. I think part of being close is the consistency of staff. If we get a new coach....I am concerned everything goes out the window and we start from bottom again. Cam Cameron and Nick Saban killed this team for years...with each rebuilding. Its early. I want to see this Buffalo game. Bills look to be a good team...and after the Brady whooping...this will be a true test of the team. I hope they are up for it.

You mixed up two penalties. The first was a delay of game on Miami where the options were loose a timeout or loose 10 seconds off of the clock. The announcers talked about the pros and cons of that at length. The second was one play later an offsides on Jacksonville where it was 3rd and 7 and Miami got 6 yards on the play. The options were decline the penalty 4th and 1 or accept the penalty replay the down and it's 3rd and 2. The announcers were confused as to why simple Joe had a hard time picking his options.

Dr_Zaius I've been singing the same "consistency" tune for years now, but 4 years is enough. If Philbins record as a HC coach by year is 7-9, 8-8, 8-8, 9-7 (or worse), then he has had enough time. That kind of slow progression is not good enough considering how much the talent has progressed since he took over. This has to be the year they succeed, or I'm afraid my tune will finally be changing.
