Can't Help But Laugh At This One...

My my my. It was sometime last week that Omar Kelly retweeted something from a fan. I don't remember EXACTLY how it went because I can't find it now, most likely because it has since been deleted but it went something like this:

Fan: Tannehill will have a completion of 25 or more yards Saturday against Atlanta. Bank on it Omar!

Omar Kelly: You willing to put anything on that?

After watching a highlight from the game, I could not help but laugh.

Ryan Tannehill completed a pass to Jarvis Landry for a total of 46 yards. But wait, those were mostly yards after the catch right? Tannehill threw the ball from the 15 yard line and Landry made the catch at the 42. That is 27 yards from throw to catch my friends. I wonder what Omar Kelly lost in the bet!!?

"...when are you fans gonna realize that your QB is conservative? He is the Ted Cruz of QBs"
That is yet another Omar Kelly quote from Twitter.

For comparisons sake, if Tannehill is indeed the Ted Cruz of QBs like Kelly states. Then Ted Cruz must be one hell of a Senator if he is anything like what Tannehill has shown us so far.

121.8 QB rating and over 80% completion rate in his playing time so far this pre season.

GO TED CRUZ!!

Good one Lawrence Chavez.

I don't get it? He's going on his 4th year; each year has been a step-up, or positive progression in his overall game. Last year alone, save the record & missing the playoffs, moved him(Tann) so very close to an elite QB in this league.
Get some perspective on what/who you are dealing with Omar! THERE ARE, "AT THE MOST," 10 ELITE QB's ON THE PLANET EARTH!!!
Your main complaint now is still the deep ball. That's one thing, and a thing they did not bring out in preseason. Trust me, it's there! Stills, Parker, Jordan down the middle; you will see it!!
But to complain about one thing about a QB who is/will be the next "MAN" in the NFL is TRITE!! And above everything; you write for a paper in the teams hometown. Hit the road man, your stinking up a city & team on the verge of recovering great football! I'm not saying we will win it all this year(& I'm not saying we won't), but I truly believe our years of mediocrity & worse, are behind us!!
Phins Up Lawrence!!!

I remember that it was actually the Carolina game and it was for a hundred dollars that both opted to spend on shoes Omar ended up winning the bet and got shoes for his son and Omar would have lost the bet which included yac yards but Cameron ended up dropping the pass well actual it was knocked out of his hands after video review but I do remember that bet I'm assuming it was removed because I'd imagine his employer wasnt to thrilled to see tweets of bets by their employees

33 Completions out of 41 attempts for 303 Yards
3 TDs and no INTs
121.8 QBR

Omar was elected President of The M o A....The Morons of America!!!!!!!

I'm still a bit worried about the O-Line. The front five will make or break the offense this year. Good protection and between Tannehill and that great set of WRs, I don't see how this team can't start reminding us of the days of Dan the Man.

@ linearz:

Our online has been spectacular considering we have moved a lot of guys around!! 2 sacks out of 80 snaps! I'll take that all year long!!!

avatar

And that's without Albert and a 3rd string LT!!!

avatar

I would have felt better about this year with Mathis on the line

Until the O-Line is solidified, the team is wasting Tannehill's talent like they wasted Marino's. I'm not suggesting Tanny is Danny. But Tanny is the best we've had since Danny and Tanny is still getting better. He's entering his prime and we don't know if he'll be adequately protected out there. The RB's suffered last night too, with a game plan that managed to keep Tanny from getting hurt this week. Why aren't we allowed to have a serious O-Line in Miami?

I'm not a HUGE Tannehill fan, but I would like to see what he could do behind a big, strong, dominating o-line. You know, a line that would give him plenty of time to look downfield and open huge holes for the RBs. But no... Philbin wants athletic o-linemen and a dink-and-dunk offense based on short passes. IMO, Tannehill's stats are artificially inflated due to the high amount of short passes. I realize that their offense does go deep on occasion, but without a decent o-line they can't do it too often. Philbin is starting his 4th season, and the o-line is still a question mark; something is terribly wrong here!

@Chris Biggans
Not sure that Dan's talents were ever wasted by a bad O-Line. Every year he was consistently the least sacked. Now maybe the lack or a running game or that Olivadotti defense wasted the results of Dan's talents, but its not the same thing...

The past two years have been some of the worst O-Line situations this team has seen. Between the Incognito/Martin garbage two years ago, and the complete lack of depth in an injury plagued year last year, rarely has Tannehill gone more than a few first downs without getting sacked. It becomes difficult to measure a QB's talents when he constantly finds himself in third and longs knowing he has to get rid of the ball quickly.

This pre-season, we've seen better protection. But still wondering if that will last long against a first team defense.

@Lawrence

I see it too, better protection. But the key to good O-Line play is consistency. Hard to gauge that consistency in the pre-season because of the small sample set. I'm excited to see what this line can do in a full game.

Lol I have to say I have been a BIG 17 critic, and I've not liked the guy due to his mediocre play and scared about throwing deep. That being said, i'm kind of turning a leaf with him. I'm impressed with his play this preseason and i'm hoping he continues to surge. I do want to see some long ball action and i'm a big campaigner for Kenny Stills !! very excited for week 1.
