Belichick Will Choose On Philbin's Future

Miami faces a daunting task of going to New England with a beat up linebacker core and fading defensive line. The Patriots will most likely be able to have their way with Miami. More signs are indicating the team is starting to quit on Philbin.  So this brings up an interesting scenario for this game. If New England pulls out to a big lead, what will Bill Belichick choose to do? Normally he would run the score up as revenge for the early season loss. However, if New England chooses to embarrass Miami this game say some something like 42-14. The aftermath will be more severe, more players will begin to speak out, coaches will start to position for new jobs etc. If New England takes mercy on them and just runs the ball most of the 4th quarter and runs the clock out for a loss more like 28-14, then the backlash may not be as severe. Joe could possibly hold the team together and win the last two games to finish 9-7. That may be enough to sell Ross on keeping him.  In other words, Bill Belichick may very well be staring across the sideline in the middle of the 3rd quarter at Joe looking sunken and “queasy” and he will need to choose if he should put us out of our misery and run it up to get rid of Joe, or he may just choose to go easy because he really wants “queasy Joe” back again next year.  Watch New England in the 4th, if they are slow in the huddle and running the clock down, you know that Belichick wants another year of Philbin.

Belichick does not care one way or the other on Joe Philbert; what Belichick wants is another year of Tannehill at the helm; WHY? Because Tannehill gives ALL opposition the best chance to win. Belichick would be willing to throw the game in exchange of another year with Tannehill at the helm! If Philbert wants to win this game; he had better swallow his pride and start Matt Moore or Bethel-Johnson! We have to go deep early and often if we are to win this game and all of the remaining ones!!!!!

Tannehill is no Cleo lemon that is for sure

matt moore? are you kidding? you must be..did you see any of moores starts when he was in carolina? or any of his mop up duty with us? matt moore is a great back up & mediocre starter at best..no way he wins us more games than tanny..not with quesy at the helm..matt moore? im LOL

matt moore has been a career backup for a reason..we know his ceiling & its not anywhere near as high as tannehills..not to mention how much has philbin & shermans 1st two years stunted a youngs qbs growth & bad oline..tanny has played well this year&showed more growth as the years progressed..92 qb rating..

Yea, Matt Moore will win this game. That was sarcasm.

I think Philbin's days are numbered, and it doesn't matter if the Patriots win by 40 or 4. Philbin was Ireland's hire, and I think Ross is ready to wash the taint of Ireland off this team. You have to think that Ross will be willing to let Hickey hire his guy.

Moore is not the answer; he's nothing but a carer back-up. That said, I also don't think that Tannehill is good enough to be the QB of the future. He's at his worst in the 4th quarter and when the game is on the line. The only reason that he has a high completion rate and rating is because they constantly throw short passes. No thanks; I'll pass on him. I'd rather sign a veteran QB for now and look for a new QB in the draft. There's no way that I'd give Tannehill a big contract.

Hopefully, after this season is over the new coaching staff will look for a new QB.

We have to draft a QB next year that can hit the deep ball. The dink dunk gets you a high QB rating, but thats about it. If we take a sack or a holding penalty the drive is almost over right there.

Pocket awareness and taking sacks is a huge drive killer that is still with him from rookie years. If we do keep Thill for Gods sake don't pay him a big money deal, this will be a Sanchez size mistake. I would offer him around 8-10million with incentives, which is all he really deserves. We really need to go into the draft thinking QB first.

The draft valur for Thill would be a 3rd rounder, I don't think they would be that many takers either, as all GM's know that Thill will never win you games consistently. As we have seen this year, D co-ordinators dare him to through deep, he also can't and is not allowed to audible out of plays which is because he either doesn't have the football IQ or the coaches have no faith in him, any way you look at that he isn't worth giving the big money for, but he is worth keeping for a 4th year while the rookie develops or pans out. Never draft a WR to be your future QB.

Matt Moore, an unrestricted free agent in 2015, is getting $5.5 million to carry the clipboard. If he was starter material, he would be starting. If Miami drafts a qb, it'll be in the later rounds. These are Miami's free agents:
S Louis Delmas
RB Knowshon Moreno
DT Jared Odrick
G Daryn Colledge
C Samson Satele
TE Charles Clay
S Jimmy Wilson
ILB Jason Trusnik
RT Jason Fox
ILB Kelvin Sheppard
RB Daniel Thomas
RB LaMichael James

Getting back on topic... I'd forgotten that Philbin was Ireland's hire! Robert Duvall's long lost brother (AKA Philbin) has three games left to salvage his head coaching career. OK, two. It would be totally out of character for him to inspire the team to victory in Foxboro! Don't forget Dan Marino's role as Ross' in-house observer. What will be Dan's recommendations to Ross?

Interesting theory on Belichick. Pats led 20-10 at half in Miami and lost 20-33. The Pats will try to make it a blowout by halftime. Any attempt by Miami to get back in the game will be met with an unrelenting Belichick.I think Philbin is roadkill!

gofins4sb, another good point, the players themselves. Odrick is just the tip of the iceberg, and as icebergs go, most of it doesn't show on the surface. I'm sure the players have considered Odrick's words, or maybe the locker room fanned his sideline diatribe at Philbin. When the going gets tough in Foxboro, will the team rally or will they let Philbin twist in the wind?

Belichick is a prick and will kook to bury us if we allow it. He only cares about winning this game and letting us know how far we still have to go.

He can have an effect on Ross' decision on Philbin but unless Hickey offers a viable option to Ross, Philbin will be back. I don't see Philbin getting fired just to make a change. We need a very good option to take his place.

Well it appears Belichick wants Philbin gone. I have to disagree Carl. I don't see much chance Philbin stays at this point. The best he can do is get a couple wins before an empty stadium against two lackluster teams. Hard for him to make a case at this point
