Tanne-kill

That's what Orlando Alzuguery has taken to calling Miami's qb. And it sums up the guys body of work.

I know for some people, you think he still has an upside. But you are wrong. We've seen what he has, and it's not good. There is no upside to him.

His career passer rating is about 79.5. You can pin several losses on him directly. He has not, ever, in 37 games gone out and won the game for his team. No 4th quarter comebacks. How much longer do you give him?

Okay so Matt Moore is a backup and maybe he doesn't stick around next year. But maybe he does okay and plays well enough to earn an extension, and can stick around for a bit while you groom the next guy...

All I know is I've seen enough. I'd rather see some guy from the practice squad than more of tannekill.

It's true. I hate that it's true, but it's true.

avatar

Hate to tell you but he had 4th quarter comeback against Patriots last year.

You cannot pin this loss on Tannehill. It goes on Philbin.

People, I have given up in trying to help the coaches see the light. If they cannot see the light at this point, they never will. Tannehill is like Feidler and Henne; they always do just enough to buy another week. Guys, I am telling you, if Moore or Lobato started next week onward, we would not loose another game! The Qb is the problem and everyone knows it. It has gotten so bad, that even when Tannehill makes a play, no one is gets really excited about it. The defense did a pretty good job, but the defense needs help from the offense when they are playing a high powered offense; and the only way that that is going to happen is with another QB at the helm who can throw the deep ball accurately. If this is done, then it will open up the running game and we will blowout every team hence forth. One good thing about the losses, is that we are sure to have a new QB next year!

avatar

This goes with logic that Matt Moore could save Philbin and go into next year with Philbin and Moore. For Matt Moore to return next year means Philbin returns next year because Matt Moore was successful. I don't think Matt Moore is going to help a running back make a 4 and goal from the 1 in the shotgun. I am with you Carl, Philbin is more of a problem than Tannehill

Bingo gofins4sb!

Carl, I guess the two INTs are Philbin's fault too. If you remove the 10 points the Pack got from the 2 INTs, then we have a win instead of a loss. We cannot keep coming back from points gained off of turnovers. If Tannehill could throw the deep ball accurately, then we could recover from any deficient. Tannehill is likeable, but he is and will never be starter material. He is too inconsistent and he holds the ball too long. This is never going to change.

avatar

David I know you want Tannehill out but if you could have Jim Harbaugh in place of Philbin would you do it?

avatar

NO! I do not like coaches who are on a power trip; and neither does the players. Those kind of coaches seem to forget that the players are human and that the players have feelings. Harbaugh may have committed that cardinal sin, in what he has said to his players behind closed doors. There was another coach who made that mistake and the team would not play for him any longer. They merely went through the motions the rest of the season because what the head coach said to them cut them so deeply, that they could not recover. So, the coach retired because he knew that he had mucked up. I won't name the coach.

avatar

If we draft a QB who beats out Tannehill then so be it but Matt Moore is not the future of this franchise.

I wouldn't be opposed to moving Tannehill to WR in the future.

avatar

Perhaps we need a new QB and a new head coach.

avatar

that game killed me. maybe tannehill should run a little more often.

avatar

I am tired, tired, tired of mediocre coaches, mediocre q-backs and mediocre ownership. After 35 years ticket holding I give up.......goodbye and good luck, the fins will need it.

avatar

the biggest and only problem on this team is joe philbin

avatar

how in the h do you call a timeout for an opposing team that just fumbled the ball on a 3rd down and is all messed up with the clock running to try and convert a 4th and 10. im sorry but if your deffense is playing the way they were at that moment you do not call a time out and let rodgers reorginize philbin has to go and so does wheeler after causing us numerous wins already

avatar

I am not saying that we have to get rid of Tannehill. I just know he is only a backup. Matt Moore would carry us to the playoffs, even at this point. Next year, we draft a QB to groom, but before that, we should also give Seth Lobato a shot this season; right now would be good because he can also throw the deep ball accurately. Believe it or not folks; the deep ball is what is missing on our offense. It is why we keep falling short in the clutch of these tight games. The deep ball can cover a multitude of sins on the offense. I don't know why we did not take a couple shots deep on our last possession. I knew that if we did not score; or if we went 3 and out, that we would loose the game because e had too many three and outs in the firsthalf and that took a lot out of our defense. I felt so sorry for our defense. People all we need to do is score more points. All we need to do that is the DEEP BALL on offense.

Carl, we have 2 QBs on the roster right now, who can beat out Tannehill. So, drafting another QB is not going to do us any good. The coaching staff avoided all QBs whom they thought was better than Tannehill. They are still hoping on that pipe dream, that Tannehill is going to all of a sudden become a star QB. A head coach lives and dies by his starting QB! They may have already purchased Philbins coffin and placed it in the attic.

avatar

Hey John Churchill.... where are your seats...I am coming down for San Diego game and may need them

avatar

@Carl You could also argue that Brady lost that game with his goal line pick at the end. And if all he has is one game, then its still pretty lame.

I also have this fear that somehow the team winds up at 8-8 or so and Tannekill plays just well enough where the team decides not to go out and draft a QB. With a somewhat suspect leadership, you have to rightly wonder. Sending him to ride the pine is the only way to ensure that doesn't happen.

avatar

Sick and tired of watching this team come out flat, with no emotion or intensity! Philbin sucks! I think Matt Moore uses the plentiful weapons that the dolphins have on offense better than Tannehill! Wheeler is mediocre and we need to get rid of him! I thought Lazor would be better! Play calling!!!! How do you look at a 9 man box and still run into it?? How or why didn't tannehill not audible out of it and either role out or a short pass to the tight end??

avatar

@ Hector: Tannehill didnt audible out of it because he sucks. Or maybe the coaches dont have enough faith in him to allow him that freedom, either way points to the fact the he is not starter material in th NFL! Nice comment!!

avatar

My God I can't believe some of you still think we have a better option at QB than Tanny. Lobato is terrible. Proven fact. Wrap it up. It's done. It's not debatable. Put Lobato in if you want to lose out and have a high draft pick. He will win ZERO games.

Moore has had his chance to lead this team in the past already. If you're calling for Moore to start then you just started watching football last year, I'm convinced. When Moore lead the team we went 7-9! Period! End of debate! He's not a starter! He's not better! He can't even out-perform Tannehill in practice! Do some of you guys not read or pay attention to anything?

When did this 3 year rule become the standard for QBs? It's because of the same impatient fans who want to see high scoring games rather than good, fundamental, defensive football. And if it is a 3 year standard then GIVE TANNEHILL HIS 3 YEARS.

The problem is the coaching! With Lobato we lose out, with Moore we go 8-8, and with RT we might get lucky and go 9-7 or 10-6. But with Philbin calling plays the way he has, it doesn't matter. This is a wildcard team at best. Even if we make wildcard we'll lose in round one.

avatar

Philbin is in over his head

avatar

Hey Jeremy, Moore wasn't 7-9. He was 7-3. He throws a beautiful deep pass!

avatar

Wrong. Matt Moore has only started 10 games in Miami in 2011 when Chad Henne was hurt. He went 4-6. He played for Carolina before that and hasn't started a game since. So I was wrong about his record but it definitely wasn't 7-3. Just look up his stats as a starter for the dolphins. And in those 6 losses he made the same kind of mistakes Tannehill is making. He's no better at closing out a game. His career rating is a 79.3. We've seen all we're going to see out of Moore. It's that simple.
