You knew this post was coming...

During the offseason, I lobbied for two things: Ross to clean house (including Philbin) and for the team to draft a qb.

And here we are after 3 weeks, and fans are coming around to my way of thinking. This week we will undoubtedly hear a lot if it...

And so, much like the season where Ross went and tried to hire Jim Harbaugh, and then kept Sparano, we are looking at another season where it's a complete waste of time.

Changes will surely come a season too late.

And that means as an owner, Ross is....hey, I'll let y'all fill in the blank.

Good thing I like fantasy football or I may not watch the Dolphins the rest of the season! LOL

Clean house now? Why? Because our injury depleted team lost to a team that had one of the best records in the NFL last year? Yes, it is 3 weeks, and this team full of injuries and rookies isn't close to being out of it.

The irony of your statement lies in the fact that the one part of the team where the house cleaning was done, the offensive line, was the worst unit on the field today.

i blame the head coach.too many dumb mistakes no marbles on 3rd or 4th and short, lack of game management and most of all the team plays with no passion just like their head coach

avatar

@linearz: 13 first half points all season. We were at home, won the turnover battle 2-0. The Chiefs were without their BEST OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYERS and we STILL LOST. Yes. Clean house. Now...

avatar

@ T Bone: you hit the nail on the head. No passion what so ever. No fight in the dog. No heart. Etc etc etc

avatar

Thill was awful as usual, he has the worst QBR over the last 5 games than any other NFL QB, (60). Philbin looks lost ans clueless.... as for the play calling its worse than when Sherman was here.

avatar

@linearz: "...one of the best records last year..." The chiefs also had one if the worst records coming into the game this year.

avatar

@linearz..i dont believe in cleaning house however Fins should have cleaned house after the final two-game debacle of last season. lets not forget chiefs were without their 2best players also.philbin to put it kindly is mediocre at best

avatar

Linearz your point is valid. But this team is so flawed that blame has to be spread around. Everywhere.

we stunk it up, pure and simple. clock mismanagement, play calling and when it comes to execution, I'm all for it,lol. We lost to a BAD football Team that was missing 7 starters. Tannehill cant hit the broad side of a barn. season over before "seasons greetings" can be uttered(December). Time to flush the toilet cause we played like crap. How sh!tty are the Patriots for losing to the Phins..

@Lawrence

If this persists, then I'm all in favor of having Hicky go out and hire a new Head Coach, draft a new QB, and wait the 2-3 years it takes to rebuild the team (again). I'm just not ready to jump on that bandwagon yet.

As for the Chiefs, they are loaded with talent and a lot better than their record indicates. If you saw any part of the Denver game last week, then you'd see the Chiefs are a very good team. The Chiefs know they are good, and they were desperate for a victory. Going into this game, with our current injury situation, I didn't think we had much of a chance.

Now, if next week if we lay an egg against Oakland, then I might be there with you. But this week, it was kind of a trap game, as KC's record was not a good indication of their true talent level.

Some will say Philbin has lost the locker room, but the real question is, did he ever have it???

avatar

there shouldnt be any doubt (especially after last season)that Philbin is the problem..the last 2games vs bad teams&we laid an egg..just like were doing this season..im not sure bout Thill..hes had bad olines coaching & alot of drops with no alpha receiver.however i am sure about Philbin &any football person can see hes in over his head

avatar

@ linearz: injury situation? That's an excuse! I'm tired of the excuses for this team! And who says it has to take 2-3 years for a rebuild? San Fran went from worst to NFC champ in 1 year. Colts event from 1 or 2 wins to 10+ By drafting Luck. I'm not saying it will happen the same with us but ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW! It darn sure cannot get worse. And lastly, if you wanna stick with the current regime if they beat the Raiders, then go right ahead, I saw all I needed to see today. Chances are they will beat the raiders so that game means nothing to me. They will still suck after the London game, win or lose...

avatar

imo you could see it during the hard knocks year that this coach is missing something..i was hoping to be wrong but he keeps proving me otherwise.smdh

avatar

i hate to say it but the way this team is playing the Raiders will not be an easy win..if we lose to a winless Oak team & going n2 a bye week after the game..i wouldn't mind seeing a major change..Philbin blows

@David "this team is so flawed that blame has to be spread around. Everywhere"

Actually, it is pretty easy to rest the blame entirely on Ireland. He had several chances to pick up some QBs through the years, and just never did it. And Ireland has done NOTHING to build up depth, unless you call drafting guys that would be available in the next round building depth.

But Tannehill was sacked 6 times. That is the new O-Line which should get better once Pouncy gets back and the Rookie gets more experience. Miller always seems to be running about a yard short of where he needs to be. Moreno would get those tough yards. Our defence was horrible in the run and short passing game. How may starting LBs were playing?

All of this, the New O-Line, the lack of depth with the LBs, the lack of a decent backup RB can be brought back to years of Ireland's poor personnel decisions. At least Ross had what it takes to part with that guy.

For what its worth, I've never been sold on Tannehill as a first round pick. I remember when he was drafted I got into a lot of arguments with a lot of my fellow fans about Tannehill, they seemed incensed that I would criticize a guy who never played pro ball. I even got some flack on this site a couple weeks ago for saying he needs to step up his game after we beat the Patriots. Really, I'm just not ready to throw an injury riddled team under the bus when it loses to a good ball club.

But, losing to the Raiders may change my mind. The Raiders really are as bad as their record indicates.

@Lawrence - "San Fran went from worst to NFC champ in 1 year"

Yea, and SF was rebuilding for many years under Trent Balky. The reason why that team went from worst to first was because it had a stacked roster that was underpeforming with Singletary at Head Coach. Philbin is a far better coach than Singletary.

The Dolphins' situation is quite a bit different. The team really doesn't have a good stock of talent. Ireland was horrible at drafting... With Ireland, the starters he drafter were often players that would be backups on most teams (see . And the backups he had were players that would make the practice squad of most teams if they were lucky. This team isn't loaded the way the Niners were. Essentially, this team is in the middle of rebuilding.

Maybe a great coach, like Shula, could make these players play better. If that guy becomes available, maybe we should get him. But I don't know who that coach is. Maybe Andy Reid?

@linearz: so you are hinging your opinion on whether we beat the worst team in the NFL? SMH. Saying Ireland is the reason this team sucks is another excuse, and again, I AM TIRED IF EXCUSES!!
