That's a little odd

Mike Pouncey was instructed by the NFL to undergo a psychological evaluation before returning to the team.

He was asked yesterday whether he had completed it. And he replied "I don't think I need it"

Um. Except that you do. Curious to how the league - or the dolphins - responds.

Everything about this whole episode is odd; Martin, Incognito, Pouncey, etc

He better just do it and get it over with.

Carl, for the sake of the Dolphins you're correct. However, he's either a dumb ass or he knows he's got the team by 'the short and curlies'!! As in, at least at the moment, he's too valuable to bench / trade. My take is that he's just dumb. Someone in that franchise needs to sit that guy down and read him the riot act. Perception is everything and this isn't helping the team.

What I find odd about the whole situation is that the NFL's sudden amnesia over hazing. I would be more understanding of their position if they had clear rules detailing what behavior was and wasn't acceptable. Instead, they stood silently for years as they received favorable press that portrayed similar behavior as part of team bonding and their failure to provide direction means they are at least partly to blame as well. I have no problem with them changing the rules as long as they aren't applied in an ex post facto manner- and that's exactly what seems to be happening here.

@Mouldymuffin!: The problem with that is that if punishment is handed down by the league, the 'Phins won't have any choice whether he sits or not.
My own opinion is that I hope he gets the counselling- not because the league mandated it, but because he needs it.

He has no choice. He must be evaluated or not play. Actually he may not need counseling, we don't actually know what if any significant part he played in this ridiculous distraction. There are 21 professional coaches on this team that should accept responsibility for their apparent apathy. Those same coaches can and should regain control of the locker room and define appropriate behavior. Folks this is football, no badminton. We train and mold these kids to be nasty and when they are we are poleaxed. Some remedial education is in order for coaches and players. The media seems to be content with crucifying Pouncey without a trial. What is that all about?
