Miami Dolphin Blog...from Bitchin' Dave
Let me know when he is #1
He is... in the win department, which is your main criteria for QBs as stated in your reply to Roger.
He certainly is and hopefully he continues. This rating system does not demonstrate a quarterbacks true value. Dan Marino is ranked 17th for career rating. He isn't even the highest ranked Dolphin as he is third behind Pennington and Culpepper. So who would you rather have quarterbacking your team? 4 Of the top 8 this year are on losing teams. Do you think that San Diego fans are more excited about Rivers being ranked 2nd this year or are they more disappointed that after 3 games they are 2 games behind the Broncos in the standings?Which would you rather have, ratings or wins? No one cheers 'We are number 5 in QB ratings!'

He is a 2nd year QB guy, get off his back
Just win. That's all that matters. If your QB is ranked number 4 and you are 9-7 and home for the playoffs, how would you feel? These rankings are great for agents and GMs. Sure if your QB rating is high, you have a better chance to succeed in this league. But the bottom line is to win. That's it, win. Drew Brees is 3-0 with a Super Bowl ring. I don't believe Sean Payton is worrying about where Brees is ranked. Hell, you could be ranked number 1 with a 48 rating. The true test of a QB is do they win.
