I wanted to make a comment about coaching and personnel decisions. It takes both a solid coach and a solid gm to make a successful organization and a winning team.
Case in point: New Orleans. They are essentially the same team this year as last year, and the gm is responsible for the players.
Now the bounty scandal surely had an impact. But losing Sean Peyton (and the backup coach) would seem to be the major difference in the team. And here they are at 0-4.
Now flip that to the dolphins. Last year under Sparano they underperformed. They got better under the interim coach, but still were weak in a number of spots.
One could argue that philbin is the right guy and really gets his team going, and makes good decisions. The fact that they are competitive week in and week out reflects that.
And, sure there may be some good players on the roster. But there are still holes to fill. And the fact that they appear to overachieve each week but can't get the wins suggests the personnel group isn't quite where it should be.
And that's on Ireland.
