Best overall draft pick

Okay, time to ask for your input....

Who is the Dolphins all-time best draft pick, who is NOT named Dan Marino?

It can be a player who was drafted, or if you have someone in mind who was traded for a draft pick (say Ricky), that works too.

  1. Dick Anderson (who I say *is* the best draft pick - including Marino):

some stats from Wikipedia (since I couldn't remember them all):
    3-time Pro Bowl selection (1972, 1973, 1974)
    3-time All-Pro selection (1972, 1973, 1974)
2-time Super Bowl champion (VIII, VII)
    NFL 1970s All-Decade Team
1973 NFL Defensive Player of the Year
    1993 College Football Hall-of-Fame Inductee
    2006 Dolphins Honor Roll Member

    Let the arguing begin...

  2. Jose, you are crazy, Paul Warfield was much better than Anderson. I love Dick Anderson but how can you compare him to a first ballot hall of famer? We traded a No 1 in 1970 for Warfield and it was obviously well worth it. Another consideration is Jake Scott. Scott was a 7th rounder in 1970.

  3. Also Larry Little, another Hall of Famer.

  4. How about Mark Clayton in, what the 13th round?

  5. Clayton was an 8th rounder but yes, good one.

  7. Yes, crazy like a fox, man. :)

Granted, Warfield is a good choice - the guy was the deep threat that helped Zonk and the others pile on the yards. I think an argument can be made for several others on those 70s Super Bowl teams as well.
