OTAs

Apparently the Phins are having yet another OTA this week.  I think they've had 2 or 3 since the draft haven't they?

Is there *any* offseason anymore?

Channing Crowder

The Fins gave out the MVP award the other night.   And naturally they gave it out to Chad Pennington who was quite the team leader but not the MVP IMHO.  Joey Porter also got some props.  And I'll grant that he made a difference often in games.  But flashy stats don't always make for an MVP.

Then, this week, Crowder made a comment that Rex Ryan's Jets are the champions of the OTAs, and a battle of words ensued between them.  It was actually pretty funny hearing a player and a coach going at it through the media.

Channing runs his mouth a lot, so I expect it.  But for the coach to fire back says a lot about the way the team is going to be run.  With a bit of luck it will be total disarray, and the Jets will win 3 or 4 games.

One thing Rex did say was that the road to the AFC East went through New England.  And Crowder called him out for that transgression.  Miami WON THE EAST if memory serves me.  So, I would argue that it now runs through Miami until someone proves they're better.

Fun article

Here's a piece from January 1974 in Sport magazine:

Those pesky Yankees

Apparently, the Yankees selected QB Pat White in the 48th round.

Yes, the forty-eigth round of the entry draft.

Can you imagine if the NFL had a 48-round draft.  Now that would go on for days....

Marino left what?

I read the headline in the Sentinel yesterday that Marino is lowering the price on his house and "leaving behind a little present" for the next owner.

My first thought was "is that in the bathroom?"

Another sense of humor...

There's this song about Chad Henne being a M-F'ing joke that wouldn't warrant further discussion because, well, its lame.

Except that Chad thinks its funny, and his girlfriend has it on her iPod and listens to it when she works out.

Gotta like that he has a sense of humor about it.
