Last night was the big shin-dig honoring the 2005 Dolphins. It used to be fan-fest, and was a breakfast, but I digress.
Chris Chambers was named the MVP for the team. Chris did have a nice half of a year. But, before his 200 yard performance later in the season, the fans and the media were trying to run this guy out of town. He was good, but not MVP material. Shouldn't the criteria be having a good total season? He dropped way too many balls early in the year, and I still have trouble with him as my #1 receiver.
IMHO, Zach was a better selection. As I stated at year end: My MVP for the year is.....drum roll.....Zach Thomas. He once again led the team in tackles, and made the probowl. Although he missed a couple of games, we hear that he did bring in bagels for everyone each and every day he didn't practice.
There were 3 no shows at the event among the team:
Manny Wright - isn't that what NFL experts were saying about him when he was drafted? Sometimes he "doesn't show up"
"The weirdo" - yeah, no surprise there. He's out of the country, and still appealing his latest positive test for some drug.
Daunte Culpepper - he was "introduced" to the crowd, and everyone was told he would be wearing #8, and a jersey was shown to the crowd. But, alas, the jersey was empty. I'm beginning to wonder if we actually traded for him or not. Maybe there was a clerical mistake and we actually traded for "Dante' Coolpeeper" who can't throw a spiral but can make a mean omlette. That's going to be tough to explain to the fans, but if they just made this a breakfast instead and had him making omlettes, all would be forgiven.
